Our studio is a 1600 square foot open floor plan at Springdale General in East Austin! We split the space evenly between our six resident artists and have a community lounge featuring Stampworthy Goods furniture, a workshop table area, private bathroom, and kitchenette. While our studio is mainly a closed working space on a daily basis, we also offer craft-based workshops of all different mediums to the public (see our events page)! We can also accommodate private workshops for roughly 10-15 guests. If you would like to schedule a private workshop or event at Broad Studios, feel free to contact us here!
We are also always looking for event sponsors and donations to keep this place up and running! It takes a surprising amount of supplies and dollars to efficiently run the programming for a space like this (suddenly we all became event planners- ha!). So if you are able and willing to help with donations of goods, services, or finances, anything is wildly appreciated and helps us give back to our community in both big and small ways.
SPRINGDALE GENERAL is a community of makers and creatives.
If you ask people why they move to Austin or why they open businesses in Austin, most people will say it’s because of the culture and the creativity. Unfortunately, Austin is becoming a victim of its own success. High rents and the growing cost of living are pushing musicians, artists, coders, makers, and designers out of town.
The mission of Springdale General is to keep the creative class in Austin by building a campus of affordable maker studios, creative office space, test kitchens, and workshops in East Austin. With over 165,000 square feet of space on 10 acres, this development will be able to accommodate a variety of small to medium businesses from coffee roasters to tech startups.
